A Significant Win for the Cigar Industry

This afternoon, by a vote of 103-13, the Florida House passed SB 1080 to Governor DeSantis for approval. The bill increases the age to purchase tobacco products from 18 to 21 years of age in order to conform with Federal Law. More importantly the bill also preempts local governments from regulating the sale of tobacco products. Once signed into law cities and counties throughout Florida will be prohibited from enacting ordinances that restrict the sale or marketing of tobacco products.

This is a significant win for the entire industry and was the result of the hard work of CAA, their member companies and other industry partners. If you have any questions, please contact the Association.
