For Benefit of Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ)
Washington, DC, Nov. 30, 2023 – The Cigar Association of America (CAA) today announced it is hosting a Mark Twain Birthday Soiree in Washington for opinion leaders at Casa de Montecristo, the premier cigar-smoking venue in the nation’s capital.
The event will benefit the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), the leading defender of Journalists around the globe and operating in 120 countries.
“I can think of no better way to honor the great American Bard, Mark Twain, who was himself a journalist, than by celebrating journalists with a good cigar,” said CAA President David Ozgo.
“In a turbulent world, the work of the press is important to everyone that cherishes freedom,” he added. “And that is why on behalf of our organization we are proud to support the work of the Committee to Protect Journalists.”
CAA is the leading national trade association representing manufacturers, distributors, importers, suppliers, and all channels of retailers in the cigar industry, and traces its roots back to the 1890s.
